What To Expect From A Golden Retriever Rescue Dog

Writing by Admin on Sunday, 30 of November , 2008 at 5:45 pm

Most Golden Retrievers at the time of adoption can be expected to be around the age of two years old. It originally was trained as a sporting and hunting dog breed and therefore is very loyal and loves to follow its owner around. These dogs love to be near water at all times so it’s a great idea to set them free in a pool as they enjoy swimming. They love to be near the shade with a fresh cool breeze as they have thick long coats. The animal matures around the age of three years. Unfortunately, many Golden Retrievers are deficient in socializing and manners due to an unstable background. However, a loving and responsible owner can easily offset this fact by investing some money into a dog obedience school. This is a great opportunity for animal and owner to build their relationship.
A Golden Retriever from a Golden Retriever rescue have been spayed or neutered, updated on vaccinations, tested for heartworm and intestinal parasites. A minimal donation is requested to help offset the costs of caring for the animal. Since a Golden Retriever historically has been a hunting and sporting dog it will require plenty of exercise.

During the adoption process potential owners are required to make certain the dog will be exercised on a regular basis. Potential owners need to really assess whether the dog is a good match for them and or their families. The dogs are quite large and active and if you are a neat freak a Golden Retriever may drive you crazy as they shed a lot. They require regular grooming to offset the constant shedding of hair. When adopting a dog one must be prepared to care for them for a lifetime and should not make a decision on the spur of the moment.
Golden Retriever rescue dogs are generally ideal as a companion for an active adult or family. Even though the dog is playful and very loyal because of its size and abundance of energy the Golden Retriever can tend to be a bit rough with small children. Due to its long thick coat the dog can be expected to shed its hair at least twice per year. The Golden Retriever has a tendency to acquire skin problems and allergies but this can be easily resolved with a high quality premium food to prevent future costly veterinarian bills. Avoid the local grocer and purchase the dog food at a good pet supply store. The dogs will also need a yearly heartworm test and monthly heartworm preventative to avoid any potential parasitical infestation.

If you want a good housedog for a pet then the Golden Retriever rescue dog is one of the best choices. It is usually already housebroken but the downside is it’s a messy drinker and can drool up a storm. The dog is not suitable as an outdoor pet and is even worse as a guard dog. The Golden Retriever rescue dog requires all your love and attention otherwise one could be faced with a dog showing emotional and behavioral problems.

This article will discuss the basics of what to expect with the Golden Retriever rescue dog. Golden Retriever information includes the fact that it is a hunting dog by breed and makes for an active, playful and fun loving pet.

Find Professional Quality Pug Pictures

Writing by Admin on Sunday, 30 of November , 2008 at 6:12 am

Pugs are among the most photogenic breed of dogs in existence. Light and dark Pugs are equally appealing with their panda bear faces and their wrinkled noses. Pug pictures are great to use for decorating your home or a variety of other purposes. Where you go to find great Pug pictures depends on what you want to use the pictures for.

If you want a Pug picture to decorate your computer desktop, to use as a screen saver, or to upload to a digital photo album, then you need digital pictures. Digital pictures are Pug pictures that you can view, save and copy with your computer. One of the best sources of digital Pug pictures is the Internet. Search for Pug pictures on a well-known search engine, and you will get more than 560,000 results. You will see digital pictures of Pugs dressed up in costumes, Pug puppies, groups of Pugs, et cetera.
You should not right-click and save photographs unless you have permission to do so. Sometimes the permission is included on the same page as the Pug picture that you want to copy. Other times you may have to search around the web site for terms of service, or even email the information contact to ask permission.

Another place to find great Pug pictures is through a search for stock photography. Through stock photos, photographers sell the right to use great Pug pictures on the Internet. You can find stock photo sites by entering the term “stock photo” into a search engine.

Really good stock photos are available from between one dollar and two and a half dollars. You can pay for stock photos by using a credit card or an online payment account like Paypal. A recent search for Pug puppies on a stock photo site offered two hundred fifty one Pug pictures for sale. Surely you can find a picture you can use among that many pictures.
Your chances of finding old framed Pug pictures are slim, but imagine how exciting it would be if you found one! Look for treasures like this at thrift stores, estate sales and antique stores. If you tell the shopkeeper that you are looking for Pug artwork, they will often keep an eye out for Pug pictures you might like and call you when they see something come into the shop.

If you go to a professional dog show, you will notice a great many vendors selling their wares around the show. These vendors sell key chains, shirts, etc., with images of purebred dogs on them. Shop around the dog show until you find the Pug area. You are bound to find several different kinds of Pug art at a dog show. A dog show is also a good place to find an artist who will create a unique portrait of your Pug.

Find professional Pug pictures on stock photography sites. Collect photos, stories, and other Pug information to use with photos in your scrapbook.

Picking The Right Dog Bed Patterns

Writing by Admin on Sunday, 30 of November , 2008 at 3:18 am

Choosing an appropriate bed for your dog may seem trivial, but once you begin shopping for one, you may find it amazing to have so many different dog beds in the market. For example, small dog beds , big dog beds, luxury dog beds, unique dog beds and the list goes on. But more importantly, a pattern dog bed must put into consideration.

The pattern of your dog’s bed will become a part of your home’s deco and this will represent what kind of dog owner you are and the personality of your dog. Every dog bed pattern says something about you and your dog. For example, if you decide to purchase a pastel color that comes with ‘girly’ patterns, it may reflect that the dog is a quiet, shy and timid dog. Or if the pattern dog bed comes with big prints with skulls and dark color like grey, it is suitable for big dogs like Rotweiler and German Shepard.

Finding a fun pattern dog bed can make your dog’s resting place fun, interesting and comfortable. There are a wide variety of colors of colors, different shapes and patterns and these consist of triangle, round, square and many different shape in a form of a flower or hotdog. While it comes with different shapes, colors should also be put into account as well. Dog owners should choose dark colors so that when the dog bed gets stained, it won’t be so obvious for everyone to notice.

The material on which the pattern is printed should take into consideration too. If your dog is tough and energetic, try something durable and low maintenance like twill, cotton or corduroy. A floral pattern on luxurious micro fiber or suede would suit dogs who like to be praised and coddled and tend to be more high maintenance. But you must make sure that the materials are suitable for your dogs. If the breed of your dog has heavy coat of fur, then it might be too hot for them to sleep on twill.

It is only natural that dog owners would also want the dog bed patterns that they choose to suit their home decor and the color of the room. Go with your own tastes when choosing a pattern for your dogs bed. Although your dog’s comfort is the most important thing, you’ll have to live with and look at the pattern every day, so you want to make sure it doesn’t annoy or bore you. If you make all of these considerations when choosing a bed pattern for your dog, you’ll be sure to end up with something that both you and your dog will enjoy.

To make your dog live more comfortably and happy, get them also a plush dog toys to keep them company when you are not around. Or if they are still young and have teething problem, avoid getting them gnaw on the new bed and get them dog chew toys!

If You Searched On Dog Food Healthy, You Need To Know About Dynamite® Super-premium Diet For Dogs™:

Writing by Admin on Saturday, 29 of November , 2008 at 2:42 pm

Have you heard the customer testimonials about Dynamite® kibbled pet food on the radio? They would make you think that there is nothing better to feed your dogs. Well, the stuff IS awesome, and our own dogs get some daily, but there are better ways, and you should know about them!

I like to believe that most people would like to give their dogs the VERY best dog food there is. If this is true for you, here is some background:

There is a destructive myth that dogs are “carnivores.” Dogs are not carnivores – they are omnivores. To be healthy, they NEED to eat both meat and plants. It is HOW they most often eat plants in nature that has created the confusion.

If you can watch a wild canine make a kill in nature, you will see that they go right for the stomach, and the contents thereof. In a healthy herbivore, the stomach is full of partially digested vegetables. For the canine, this is their “salad” before the meat and bone. Through this, the get needed plant-based vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals. To the casual observer, not considering what is in that stomach, it looks like they just eat meat.

If they were to ONLY eat the flesh of animals they would soon become sick and die from either nutritional deficiency or from acidosis. Notice that they eat the flesh AND bones—together, if the animal is small enough. If it is a larger animal, the bone is chewed and swallowed a little later, but it is still critical to the proper utilization of the flesh. The flesh is an ACID ASH food, and it must be neutralized with about four times as much ALKALINIZING bone and vegetables in order to maintain the healthy balance of 20% acid, 80% alkaline.

If you are interested in learning more about all this, pick up a copy of Dr. Ian Billinghurst’s books on the B.A.R.F. diet, or “Give Your Dog A Bone.”

Lately I have heard that, for the “real” Billinghurst raw food diet, you need to be sure to get the original books that he wrote. I have read some reviews of his recent books saying that he has “sold out” to the processed food industry. I don’t necessarily believe this, but I have not read his recent books. My suspicion is that Dr. Billinghurst has come to accept the reality that very few people will take the time to feed their dogs a raw diet. Few would even take the time to feed their FAMILIES a raw diet, even if they understood how much difference it would make to their health. THIS FACT is why the Dynamite® kibbled dog food is so relevant to the health of your dog.

The value of the Dynamite® kibbled dog food is that it is a fast-feeding kibble that doesn’t contain any of the toxins that are in most ready-to-serve foods. The ingredients are very carefully selected and controlled to assure that the nightmares caused by the mainstream dog food companies are never a factor when feeding any Dynamite product. The food is manufactured in a plant that never allows any preservatives or toxins into the building, let alone into the food.

But, even that was not good enough for the owners of Dynamite. They dreamed of creating a dog food that was a ready-made, easy-to-feed “BARF” diet. This past year that dream became a reality. They are now producing their new “Ultimate Diet for Dogs” — a raw extruded meat and vegetable dog food that is dried into a fine meal. It actually uses fresh-killed whole beef – not “beef by-products.”

The only hooker is that it isn’t ready to just dump out of a bag and walk away from. It is a very dry extruded “meal” that needs to be moistened with about 4 parts water, then stirred and soaked before feeding, and it is BEST when mixed with fresh, raw LIVE vegetables that have been liquefied with water in a Vita-Mix (carrots, spinach, beets, left-over green salad, green beans, etc.). Because of this, most people with busy schedules still prefer to feed the Dynamite® kibbled dog food – a kibble that can just be poured and forgotten, but with a clear conscience.

Although Dynamite® kibbled pet food might be only third-best, it still beats out all of its commercial competitors! The only commercial food we know of that is better happens to be made by the same company.

Need More Info About London Dog Walking

Writing by Admin on Saturday, 29 of November , 2008 at 1:08 pm

Caring for a dog and sharing time together can be very rewarding, but before you rush out to buy that cute looking puppy with the oversized eyes that is looking longingly back into your eyes, what guidelines should you be aware of? What steps are you going to need to take to ensure that you and the dog have a long and happy life together?

Assuming that you are capable of enduring the initial toilet training and the basics of dog behaviour, what are the main factors of sharing a happy life together with your new found best friend? Well, here are a few suggestions!

First, training. You must train the dog, either yourself, under the supervision of a dog trainer or pass the dog to a dog trainer for a sympathetic training style. This might sound cruel at first, but you at least need to have your pet trained in the basics. For example, if it’s a large dog then you might not want it jumping up onto your furniture and likewise you probably don’t want it to jump it and greet nervous visitors with a lick across the face, whilst his paws are resting on their shoulders.

Other essential basics include recall. When you are out walking your dog in open space, he must be able to respond to a basic command to return to you. This might be when he has seen another dog to play with, an animal to chase or because he has just stepped onto the road as a car is approaching. Recall can save you having to hunt for your lost dog, it might even save its life.

Second is feeding. Many dogs do actually become over fed through too much nourishment and too little exercise. Take the situation in hand at the start and provide a suitable amount of quality food. Limit treats to just occasional treats, especially as chocolates and high fat food can ultimately kill your dog.

Along side feeding, plenty of exercise is also needed to keep them fit and healthy. This is where many people struggle with their busy life styles and cannot find the required time each day to allow their dogs to exercise freely. Walks on the lead at night do at least give them the basic exercise, but dog also need time off their leads in open spaces where they are free to roam and play with other dogs. In winter, this might seem impossible due to your working hours, but many services have sprung up to assist here, such as the London Dog Walker. Here they will collect your pet from your house, take it for a walk in a local park and a play with some of its friends and then return it home to you.

London dog walking isn’t unique, it happens in many cities and can be a great relief for the owner to know the pet is being cared for, whilst great for the pet as it allowed out of the house for a play. Well worth considering!

Feed your dog well, be the boss and train it and make sure it is well exercised. It’s the start to a health relationship with man’s best friend and you!

Methods You Can Use To Find A Chihuahua Rescue Group

Writing by Admin on Friday, 28 of November , 2008 at 1:39 pm

People can be cruel and anyone who would abuse or abandon a little Chihuahua dog can easily be considered a cold and cruel person. As a humane person you will want to do the right thing and get in touch with a Chihuahua rescue group if you see any little dog abused or abandoned. It is your business when no one else will help a defenseless animal and there are many resources you can use to try and help you locate the rescue group closest to you.

The one person that is just as interested in the safety and well being for all pets as you are is your vet. Ask your vet for any contact information they may have for Chihuahua rescue groups and they will be glad to supply you with the contact information that they have. If you do not own a pet and have no business with a vet then just contact the vet closest to you and they will be glad to give you that contact information.
People always underestimate the value of their local newspaper when it comes to finding important community contact information. Chances are that your local newspaper either publishes the contact information for a Chihuahua rescue group at least once a week or has the information available for people that may want it. Give your local newspaper a call and see if they can give you contact information for any animal rescue groups.

The Internet is one of the greatest communication tools ever created and you can use it to find local Chihuahua rescue groups to help you out. Even if all you find are the websites of national animal rescue groups you should still check out the sites because those groups usually have satellite offices and one of them may be close enough to help you find some assistance for a poor Chihuahua and get that little dog out of it’s abusive situation.
Check your area for any reputable Chihuahua breeders and chances are that they can act as a Chihuahua rescue group for you. Many reputable breeders have no problem taking in abused or abandoned pets, as the breeder does not want to see an animal suffer any more than you do. So contact a breeder and explain your situation to them and ask them if they would be able to take in this poor neglected little animal and give it a second chance at life.

Never turn your back on an abandoned or abused Chihuahua or any other animal that is suffering. In many cases all you have to do is make a phone call and an animal rescue group will come out and take care of the rest. Every animal deserves the chance to be happy and no pet deserves the horror of being abused or abandoned so if you see a situation that requires immediate attention then track down contact information for a local animal rescue group and give a little pet a second chance.

This article can be an invaluable resource for Chihuahua rescue information. This article will help you find important Chihuahua information if you need to rescue an abused animal.

All About Locating Poodle Rescues

Writing by Admin on Friday, 28 of November , 2008 at 10:38 am

You’re ready to bring a dog that needs a home into your life. Good for you. After doing your research, perhaps you’ve decided on a Poodle or Poodle-mix for their intelligence, friendliness and beauty. There are tens of thousands of Poodles who need homes in all-pet animal shelters and Poodle rescue groups. Yes, Poodles have their own rescue groups because of the needs of the breed.

Most people don’t realize the extensive grooming needs that a Poodle has. They just see a cute puppy and impulsively buy it. No pet store or online puppy broker will check to see that a Poodle buyer knows even rudimentary Poodle information. However, a Poodle rescue group will not only be a treasure chest of Poodle information, but information about each dog up for adoption. They take the time to get to know the dog’s likes and dislikes. This is impossible in the harried and crowded environment of an all-pet animal shelter.
When you have definitely decided on a Poodle or Poodle mix, take a deep breath and go online. You can try to find local Poodle rescue groups by entering your state or city name along with the words poodle rescue on your favorite search engine. But the fastest way is to go to an all-breed site like Petfinder.com or 1-800-Save-a-pet.com. You can usually see photos and read biographies on the Poodles up for adoption.

You can also find Poodle rescue groups in your area by asking your local animal rescue shelter, your vet or leafing through a dog magazine. You could also ask the Poodle Club of America for a list of local rescues in your area or email them for a list. If you use snail mail, please be sure to enclose a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) to ensure a reply. If you go to a local dog show, you might ask around to discover any recommendations, as well as find out more Poodle information in general.
Don’t get carried away by every story you read. You are best contacting the Poodle rescue group and filling out an application, which usually asks for your character references and a non-refundable application fee. Be sure to have a vet figured out beforehand. They will then help match the dog they have to your needs, temperament and lifestyle. This helps for the person who has trouble making decisions, or who picks a dog out of pity more than compatibility. Be patient, a Poodle that is properly matched to your lifestyle will ensure that you won’t have to give the dog back to the rescue group.

Poodle rescue groups tend to prefer people with past Poodle experience and a fenced-in yard. They also prefer people who don’t mind an older dog (one past seven years of age). Since Poodles average about sixteen years of age, seven isn’t so old. You will most likely have your home checked by a volunteer for the Poodle rescue group. You also will most likely have to provide all transportation as well.

Articles about Poodle rescue dogs can make more people aware of the great animals in shelters. Finding good Poodle information is as easy as visiting your local library.

Poodle Training: Housebreaking A Poodle

Writing by Admin on Friday, 28 of November , 2008 at 9:19 am

Proper training is important for all dogs, but especially so with Poodles. These are really great dogs, amazing dogs, but if they are not trained properly when they are young they will end up developing poor behavior problems, such as barking incessantly and chewing destructively. They will attack shoes, clothing and other things around the home if they are not trained.

Poodles also tend to be quite stubborn and dominant, especially if they are not shown who is in charge of the home, and so this can also cause a damper in their training. It often takes a lot more time and effort to train a Poodle than another breed of dog, and any potential Poodle owner definitely needs to be aware of this before they go through and decide to get one of these dogs as a pet. It is important to start training the dog as early on as possible in order to get the best and most permanent results.
There are a few important commands in particular which should be included in the most basic Poodle training. Heel is one of the first and to teach this command the owner needs to have the leash and collar on the dog, and command them to “Heel!” while at the same time walking out with the foot closest to the dog. The typical side to have the dog heel on is the left but of course this is up to the owner.

This is one of the easiest commands to teach a dog, and another one of the most important is the sit-stay command. To teach this lesson the owner needs to have the leash and collar on the dog and command them to “Sit!” while pushing their rump down and then pull the leash up. For the stay command the owner needs to put their hand out with their palm facing flat down towards the dog and they must command them to “Stay!” while stepping right in front of them at the same time.
The process of poodle training is one of great importance to stave off future Poodle problem behaviors and there are a few tips that every owner should remember. One is to be firm but friendly at the same time, because the dog is going to respond better to positive reinforcement and praise than to anger and frustration. Patience is a necessity here and really key when training not only a Poodle, but also any sort of dog. Owners need to remember to focus on a single command each session rather than trying to cram as many in as possible, so that the dog is not left confused and overwhelmed.

It is also very important to make sure that there are no distractions around while training the dog, such as toys and food, because then the dog will not be able to focus and this will make training them a great deal more difficult. Owners should also remember that there are many wonderful professional dog trainers out there who will be able to help out here and make sure that the dog is properly trained.

There are some really great Poodle training tips that an owner can use to help them through this process. There are some really great dog training books out there that a Poodle owner can buy to help with the training of their dog.

All About Beagle Rescue Centers In America

Writing by Admin on Wednesday, 26 of November , 2008 at 10:42 pm

Why do Beagles need rescuing if they are such a great breed of dog? This is one question that comes into the public’s mind when they first learn about Beagle rescue centers. But Beagles are abandoned just like any other dog, pedigreed or mongrel. Unlike some other breeds of dog, Beagles get along very well together since they were originally bred to hunt in packs. This is one reason why some volunteers transform their homes into Beagle rescue shelters.

Not every place calling itself a Beagle rescue center has animals that can make good pets for you and your family. Since there is no national regulating body of animal shelters (let alone Beagle rescue centers), anybody can set up an animal shelter and run it pretty much how they see fit (under state laws for kennels and animal cruelty). Before you are swayed to give any donations, be sure the prospective Beagle rescue center is a non-profit charity. They should proudly tell you their 501c registration number.
There are things to look out for in any place that calls itself a dog rescue center or Beagle rescue center. You should not smell excrement unless someone has just pooped in front of you. The dogs should look well fed. The dogs should NEVER be kept in stacked crates unless the shelter is doing an evacuation drill. Keeping dogs in stacked crates is the sign of a breeder who sees dogs as nothing more than merchandise, and these dogs will be traumatized.

All shelters, including Beagle rescue centers, will require an adoption fee. This fee barely covers the costs of feeding and vetting the dog. It usually is under $300 (a fraction of what you’d pay for a purebred puppy). They should do a lot of vetting of your knowledge of Beagle information and, in the best shelters they will not let you go home with a dog on the first visit.
A great Beagle rescue centers will do everything they can to be sure the dog will not return to them. This means that they will check out your home, yard, family, work schedule, and dog knowledge to be sure that you and your adoptive furry kid are compatible. Most shelter dogs are dumped not because they are bad dogs, but that they cannot get along with their people’s lifestyle or temperament.

The good news is that there are more good Beagle rescue centers than bad ones. Dog lovers stomp on the bad ones pretty quickly. The Beagle has a special place in the hearts of many people (including the late great cartoonist Charles Schultz, who based his infamous character Snoopy on a real Beagle). Beagles can often inspire the best in people – service, sacrifice and comradeship. You can bet that the rescue center will check up on you long after your adoption.

This author adores all things Beagle, and has a soft spot for the volunteer workers of America’s Beagle rescue centers. Most peoples knowledge of Beagle information was learned from the cartoon character Snoopy.
